The History of The Butterfield Trail Regulators
The Butterfield Trail Regulators was originally sanctioned in March 1998. The four founders were Jesus Sandival, Cob-eye Zack, Comanche Killer Joe, and Duck Creek Duke. The initial shooting range has been The Abilene North Gun Range. There has been gallons of sweat, blood, and tears spilled over the years bringing the range up to the condition it is today.
Through the years we have only had a handful of Presidents that have led the membership through the perils of the United States, the roller coaster of the economy, and the ever searing weather changes of West Texas. We have endured freezing cold to boiling heat of Texas summers.
The Butterfield Trail Regulators have grown from 4 old buddies to a membership that swelled upwards of 80 plus members. Today The Butterfield Trail Regulators maintain a membership of around 45 “Waddies”. These are people of the Highest Caliber. Men and women that when they give you their word is as good as a signed contract. We have gone through the pains of a start up club, where we weren’t sure of all of the rules, to a top Hand Club with a “Old West Town” that is admired by all who visit.
To join us in one of our shoots, every fourth Saturday, take I -20 to the Albany Highway (HWY 351.) Follow HWY 351 to East Lake Road. Turn north on East Lake Road and follow it 4.5 miles to the shooting range on the right.
There is a mandatory shooters meeting at 9:00. The shoot begins at 9:30 for most of the year, during the summer we try to start before it gets too hot.
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
